Managing Director
Kathal Spence is the founder and Managing Director of Finance House Group (FHG). As a Chartered Accountant, Kathal possesses an intrinsic understanding of the demands and expectations of our referral partners, ensuring exceptional client outcomes.
Kathal’s unique expertise lies at the intersection of accounting, advisory, and finance—a critical area for SMEs. His comprehensive knowledge allows him to provide invaluable insights and strategies that drive growth and efficiency for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Under Kathal’s leadership, FHG developed its distinctive Joint-Venture Structure, which has grown to include over 300 partnerships nationwide. This innovative approach has been integral to the company’s success and expansion.
In his spare time, Kathal enjoys watching rugby union, spending time with his grandchildren, and indulging his passion for vintage cars.
Lachlan Spence
General Manager
Lachlan Spence plays a pivotal leadership role within Finance House Group (FHG), overseeing the strategic and operational facets of the company. His responsibilities include managing daily operations, driving business growth, ensuring financial stability, and fostering a culture of innovation and excellence within the organisation.
Since joining FHG in 2016, Lachlan has spearheaded the business’s product and finance delivery programs, bringing expertise across all streams of finance. He has been instrumental in developing and executing strategies that enhance FHG’s product offerings and financial services.
Lachlan oversees broker onboarding and development, ensuring that new brokers are well-integrated and supported within the company. He also handles complex transactions for commercial clients, leveraging his extensive knowledge and experience to deliver exceptional service.
Outside of his professional life, Lachlan enjoys spending time with his partner, Rachel, and their young son, Henry. He is an avid camper and a highly enthusiastic DIYer, often taking on new projects and adventures during his free time.
Thomas Ness
Finance Broker
Thomas began his career as a trainee broker, building a strong foundation in lending before gaining broader business experience managing operations and sales for a Perth distillery. This mix of financial knowledge and client service shaped his approach as a broker, where he is committed to delivering positive outcomes for clients. Away from work, Thomas enjoys sport, gardening, and catching up with friends
Julia Paris
Communications & Engagement Officer
Julia is a Commerce graduate from the University of Western Australia with experience across corporate, supply chain, hospitality, and marketing. Her background in the mining industry, agency internships, and an entrepreneurial upbringing have given her a strong foundation in business and communications. At FHG, she is focused on building brand recognition and creating lasting client relationships. Outside of work, Julia enjoys reading, pilates, jewellery making, and traveling.
Rashen Bandaranayake
Broker Associate
Rashen is currently pursuing his master’s in Professional Accounting and brings a background in project management and development, having worked for five years in Sri Lanka while completing his bachelor’s degree. After moving to Perth for postgraduate studies, he found a new path in broking through his role with FHG. He enjoys the daily challenges, problem-solving, and the opportunity to help clients achieve their goals while continuously learning and growing in the field. Outside of work, Rashen enjoys rugby, cricket, 4×4 driving, and camping.
Sharon Deang
Compliance Manager
Sharon brings nearly 30 years of experience in financial services, with a career spanning banking, loan operations, and compliance. She has managed diverse lending portfolios and supported brokers, giving her deep insight into both operational and client needs. At FHG, Sharon focuses on strengthening governance and mentoring the team. Outside of work, she enjoys gym workouts, city drives, and a good latte with a cinnamon danish.
Amith Kulatunge
Associate Broker
Amith is an undergraduate student pursuing a degree in Finance and Accounting, and his role as an Associate Broker has reshaped how he thinks about the industry. He has built a strong understanding of lending and financing and enjoys guiding clients and lenders through the process from first stage to settlement. At FHG, he is excited by the constant learning opportunities this career offers and the skills he develops along the way. Outside of work, Amith enjoys playing rugby.
